Brinley Likes to Play

There are very few things that Brinley likes to do as much as play.
Brinley playing on her mat.

Brinley is on the verge of crawling.  It could be any day now... (or another month). Stay tuned to see her crawl soon!

Sweet Faces!

Brinley is 6 months now and 15.8 pounds! She has started eating solids, and loves it :) (videos to come soon!). Here are some photos I just can't resist posting because she's just so cute!
Trying water in a cup!  Such a big girl in her high chair.

Silly face!

Just love this smile!

Ready for the pool!

Getting ready to crawl!

Looking down at Dad (he was there JUST in case Brinley
decided to dive off the couch during the photo).

Yum!

Chimney Tops

Oh, a hiking we will go...

Brinley is now big enough to ride in her hiking backpack. I have been waiting for this moment ever since members of the ORHS math depetment gave us this at the shower.
Brinley's head bearly peaks out.  That is why this photo is taken from uphill.
We thought Brinley should start her hiking career off right.  So her first hike was to the Chimney Tops in the Smokies.
Here we are at the trailhead.
Not a lot of sunscreen is required in this setup.  Only her eyeballs are exposed.
Not even her eyeballs show when she takes a mid-hike nap.

We made it as close to the top as was reasonable with a baby.
The only part we didn't climb.  Can you see why?

Here we are back at the bottom.

4th of July 2011

Over the 4th of July, our family traveled to Minnesota together for the first time since Brinley was born. We had a great time, and it was Brinley's first time meeting a lot of the extended family.

The day before we left, Brinley got a package in the mail from Aunt Liz.  Liz made Brinley a couple of pairs of new bloomers.  Here Brinley is holding up her dress to show them off.   It makes for a cute picture but her dad hopes it doesn't become a habit.
On our trip to MN we went to the picnic at the lake and stayed with Grandma and Grandpa at the Flatau Farm.

Here is Opa holding Brinley at breakfast.
Oma and Brinley get along well.
Brinley met a bunch of second cousins in MN (Karl's cousins kids).  Here she is playing with Nora at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
A four generation photo.  Brinley is the only great grandchild of Rodney and Marian Flatau to have the Flatau last name.  Also, she is the only great-great grandchild of Albert and Elsie Flatau to have the Flatau last name.

Opa thinks Brinley is prety great in her John Deere shirt.
Brinley is relaxing on the porch swing with Oma.

After we spent a couple of days at the farm, we went to Detroit Lakes to visit Grandma Jackie (that's "Gigi" to Brinley).
Brinley and Gigi were happy to meet each other for the first time.
Look at how well Brinley is sitting up!
We took a morning walk down to the beach.
Brinley likes to ride in her K'tan.

A little Goodnight Moon before bed.
We had a fantastic time in MN, and we can't wait to go back.  While we were there, Brinley got her first tooth.  Our little Mae is growing up fast.

Changing Fast

Each day of Brinley's life she has been doing something new and exciting.  But the past couple of weeks she has been changing faster than ever.

Here, Brinly is drinking milk from a cup for the first time.

She is getting really good at sitting up on her own.

"Oh, you said 'Bed-Time'  I thought you said play time."

She is getting better at the operation of the pacifier.

Finally asleep
