On a Roll

Brinley has been rolling over and now she is a pro at it.

Brinley really likes to be close to Emily
Brinley was crying and as soon as she got snuggled in she was totally asleep.

Have you ever seen a baby this cozy?

Brinley is growing big. She is already over 10lb and nearly 22 inches long!

Happy 1 Month Birthday Brinley!

Brinley is now one month old! Can you believe it?!?!

Kris Light came over to take photos of Brinley.  They came out great!
Anna likes to call Brinley, "Baby Doll."  She's like your baby doll Anna, but a little more fragile.
"He's got the itty-bitty babies in His hands..."

Pretty in Pink

"If it's OK with you guys, I'll just hang out here for a while."

We are not saying she has to go to Miami.  Buy why wouldn't she go to the best school in the world?

The month we have had with our daughter, has been so sweet.  What a blessing!
It has gone so fast.  Before we know it she'll be at the high school and I will have to do what I can to scare all the teenage boys away.

Aunt La La Comes to Town!

Last week Emily's sister Laura came to visit/do everything for us.
Brinley is Aunt La La's very first niece.  I think they get along don't you?
Emily's Grandmother came to town for a short visit too.

The Mowrer Power cousins with Grandmother.
Jackson and Anna flew in from Dallas to meet Brinley. I bet their arms were tired.

Here, Spiderman is explaining to Brinley the joys of pizza night.

While Mom and Aunt La La are out running errands, it is time for Dad and Brinley to have some play time.

"I'm content, but my eyes say that I am a little concerned.  When does Mom get home?"

"Mom and Aunt La La are back, I can relax.  I'm not sure if this is Mom holding me, but she looks close enough."
A day in the life of Brinley Mae Flatau.  She has quickly become the most tagged face in our Picasa files.  If we took photos of me at the same pace we would have 68,900 photos.

Aunt La La and Brinley forged a special bond in just a short time.
Laura was a HUGE help and a lot of fun to have around. Thanks for coming!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Karl's birthday was Super Bowl Sunday.  He got to celebrate
with "Daddy's little lady."  Brinley is so lucky to have such a great father!

A little birthday wish from cousin Jackson (Of course Brinley is
in picture too).

Family Photo!

Karl is doing a great job of taking care of a girl.  Here is an
action shot caught of him brushing Brinley's hair.

A little skin-to-skin time.

Immediately Brinley had stolen his heart!

I'm not surprised, but it turns out, Karl is a terrific Dad.
Poor Karl, in addition to taking care of Brinley full time,
Karl also takes care of me without fail.  How blessed
I am to have such a supportive and loving husband.
It is pretty exhausting to keep up with the two girls in his life,
but he manages somehow.

We took Brinley on a walk across the street from our house
(at Jefferson Middle School track).  We explained to her that
thanks to Jefferson, Karl and I met, fell in love, and had her.

Happy Birthday, Karl!  We love you sooooooooo much!

The Grandparents Come to Visit Brinley

To all three of their grandkids Emily's parents are known as Mimi and Dow.  Mimi and Dow live in town and they have been over to visit many times. Mimi even stayed with us the first week we were back from the hospital.
Question: How many adults does it take to take care of a baby?
Answer: Three. Two adults to tend to the baby and one more adult to take care of them.

Thanks Mimi for helping take care of Brinley and us!
Dow got his share of Brinley time too.   He is a pro at soothing a crying baby, especially at dinner time.

You will notice a theme develop: Grandpas Make Funny Faces.

Mimi, Dow and Brinley

As Emily's parents were walking out the door at the end of their visit, they bumped into Karl's parents arriving from MO. Brinley is the 5th grandchild for Oma and Opa (German for Grandma and Grandpa).
Oma and Opa meet Brinley for the first time.
"Let's do something Opa! This is boring!"
Oma and Opa had a great time with Brinley!

This is the second installment of the Grandpas Make Funny Faces project.  I am sure there will be many more to come.
