Father's Day/5 Months

Sunday was Father's Day.  It was awesome.
Brinley got all dressed up to take me to breakfast. Can you tell she is excited?
A breakfast at IHOP that would make any lumberjack proud. I am wearing my favorite shirt.
If you can't wear your deer shirt on Father's Day when can you wear it?

Later in the afternoon we went to Mimi and Dow's house to celebrate Father's day.  We waited out the thunderstorms then it was off to the pool.
Brinley is all ready to go swimming.

This was Brinley's first time swimming in a full sized pool.
She didn't know quite what to think but she had fun.
Drying off with Mimi.

Today, Brinley turns 5 months old.  Wow, it goes fast.  We took a bunch of pictures.  I have a hard time picking my favorite.

I can easily say that I had the best Father's Day that I have ever had.  Thanks Emily and Brinley for making it so fun to be a dad.

Another Week of Firsts for Brinley

Summer vacation is in full swing.  Even though Karl had to travel for work Emily and Brinley got to go along.
Here Brinley is taking her first self portrait.   I think she did a pretty good job.

Brinley's first trip to the "Parthenon."   Even though Emily had been in Grease a couple of years ago, this was her first visit to the Parthenon as well.
First baseball game.   Those Cracker-Jacks will rot your teeth (not an issue for Brinley).

Brinley loves to pose with Mom

Another family photo.

The Secret City Festival was this weekend.  Brinley had an interesting time...

Yay Summer!!

So maybe it's not June 21st yet, but when you're a teacher, summer begins as soon as school is out!  And yes, it's pretty awesome having summers off being a teacher, but what is better is being MARRIED to a teacher!  Emily actually resigned from teaching after Brinley was born, and her resignation went into effect May 31st.  Emily turned in her key this past Friday after spending the week cleaning out her classroom with Karl.  New summer project:  finding a place for everything!  Brinley is thrilled to have mom and dad home this summer!

Brinley still loves bath time--especially when she gets to enjoy
it with mom AND dad!

No one else can tell, but she really is getting lots of hair.  You can
really tell when she's in the bathtub.  Here she is sporting a
funny hair-do.

Brinley loves to sit up.  She can't quite sit up
by herself, but she is always trying.  Here is is with
one hand assisting her.

Coming home from church....Brinley likes to wear her shades
when it's sunny out.

Now that Dad is home, he does a great job getting up
to take care of Brinley in the "first shift...." and sometimes
it's fun to see the clothes that he picks out for her.  Here he dressed
her in her favorite shirt (Thanks Mer!) and some tights...

She was a little happier in her jeans

Emily, Karl, and B spent the entire first week of summer vacation at
Willow Brook :(....poor Brinley was exhausted!  She learned
that teaching is HARD work!

Brinley is really noticing new things now and is interested in everything!
One time during her bath, she noticed her fish on the spout and
practically stood up all on her own.  Here she is investigating.

We haven't begun solids yet.  BUT, Brinley is really interested in
what we are eating and drinking.  She couldn't wait
to get her hands on this cup when the water was gone.
Brinley is also turning over from back to front pretty regularly now--hopefully we'll capture her new talent on video soon!  YAY Summer!
